I’ve always felt that what truly makes me remember a city isn’t how many attractions I’ve checked off my list, but the streets I’ve wandered through, the people I’ve happened to meet, and those little moments that never make it into a travel guide.

On this trip to London, I chose to discover the city with GuruWalk. Instead of rushing from one landmark to another with a map in hand, I wanted to slow down and follow the footsteps of locals, getting to know London through conversations and leisurely walks. To me, GuruWalk isn’t just a travel experience—it’s a way to truly step into the city.
01. Starting My London Journey
It was my first time in London, so of course I wasn’t going to miss Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, or Tower Bridge. But this time, I didn’t want to pack my itinerary too tightly. I wanted to leave plenty of room for the streets and the city itself.
I would plan the three days at a relaxed pace: spend the first day experiencing classic London, the second wandering through different neighborhoods with GuruWalk, and the third leaving time for shopping, cafés, and those little shops I might discover along the way.
One thing I particularly love about GuruWalk is that it made me realize that the most interesting parts of London aren’t necessarily found on a “must-see” list. Walking slowly along routes chosen by locals, I started noticing architectural details, little shops tucked away on street corners, and the completely different personalities of each neighborhood.

02. Walking Through London Neighborhoods
If you asked me what I found most challenging about traveling in London in autumn, my answer would definitely be: What should I wear?London in autumn can be beautifully unpredictable. One moment it’s crisp and cool, and the next you might find yourself caught in a little rain. That’s why layering became my favorite way to dress for the city.
I especially loved wearing a trench coat while walking around London in autumn. Against the city’s historic architecture, red buses, and golden autumn tones, it created that effortlessly cinematic feeling that feels so perfectly London.
And of course, comfortable shoes are a must. Once you start exploring London on foot with GuruWalk, you quickly realize just how much walking you’ll actually do. A pair of stylish sneakers, loafers, or comfortable boots can make all the difference when you’re spending hours wandering through the city. The perfect London autumn outfit is all about layers, comfort, practicality, and a little bit of personal style. After all, the best outfit is one that lets you keep walking without thinking twice.
03. Discovering Another Side of the City
London is a huge source of fashion inspiration.I love exploring different neighborhoods and observing how locals dress, rather than focusing only on luxury boutiques. Sometimes, walking into an independent designer store or vintage shop is actually where I discover the most interesting pieces.
I’d save most of my shopping for the second half of the trip. After wandering around with GuruWalk and getting a feel for the different areas, I could then decide where I actually wanted to shop. It felt much more interesting than simply following a shopping list and searching for specific brands.
What I love most about London is its effortless approach to fashion. Some people dress classically, some are incredibly avant-garde, while others wear nothing more than jeans and a jacket yet still have an unmistakable sense of personal style. That diversity is what makes London’s fashion scene so captivating.
04. Experiencing Local Life in London
In London, I’d much rather find a little café on a street corner, order a cup of coffee, and sit there for a while watching people go by. I’d also make time to try a traditional British afternoon tea, have some fish and chips, or enjoy a slower dinner at a local restaurant.
While walking with GuruWalk, I’d also ask locals where they usually go for coffee or dinner. Those recommendations are especially valuable to me because they offer a glimpse of a London that feels less like a tourist destination and more like a place where people actually live.
I love that feeling: travel isn’t just about constantly moving from one place to another. Sometimes, it’s about slowing down and building a small connection with a city.

05. Capturing My Travel Memories
London is such a photogenic city. What I love most isn’t necessarily one specific photo spot, but taking pictures as I walk. Red telephone boxes, historic architecture, little flower shops, double-decker buses, or even an old window with a bit of character can all become part of the perfect backdrop. So my advice for anyone visiting London for the first time would be: don’t pack every minute of your day. Leave yourself some time to get lost.
If you’re not sure where to start, I’d recommend using GuruWalk to find a walking route that suits you. After exploring an area with GuruWalk, I’ll often remember a few neighborhoods that I particularly enjoyed and come back later to explore them at my own pace. Most importantly, don’t underestimate how much walking you’ll actually do in London. It was only after all those walks with GuruWalk that I truly realized just how far you can go on foot.
For me, the biggest takeaway from this trip to London was a new understanding of what “travel” can mean.I’m no longer obsessed with how many attractions I can see in a single day. Instead, I’m learning to slow down—to walk, explore, and connect. And GuruWalk happened to give me the perfect starting point: a way to go from being a tourist to feeling, for a little while, like someone actually living on the streets of London.
